The Summer clean up – Tips on cleaning up in time for Autumn

The evenings are drawing in, the kids are going back to school, and the barbeques are all less frequent.

Yes, we’re sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but summer is nearly over and the autumn months are almost here.

But don’t fret! We’ve listed a few hints and tips of how to get yourself and your garden autumn ready this year with your trusty pressure washer!

Tip 1: Cleaning Outdoor Patio Furniture

There is no doubt your outdoor patio furniture has worked hard for you and your guests this summer – so give it the TLC it deserves before you bring it out again next year.

Make sure you wash your outdoor patio furniture before storing it indoors or covering it with a plastic protective cover.

Using a pressure washer is quick and easy, and will give a much deeper clean than just using the standard garden hose.

Don’t forget!  Make sure you let your furniture completely dry before moving furniture into storage.

Keeping your patio furniture clean and protected will prolong the life of your furniture, and save you a lot of money in the long run!

Tip 2: Cleaning the Barbecue

Talk about working hard this summer, your barbeque probably had its work cut out this summer too!

If you don’t have a barbeque during the winter, cleaning your barbeque with a pressure washer will help make sure it’s ready for your next big barbeque.

For gas barbeques, first remember to disconnect the gas canister and move it away from the area you’re cleaning. Prop open the top and remove the grates from the barbeque.

Next, treat the entire barbecue with a de-greasing solution. Let the detergent soak for 3-5 minutes before rinsing with your pressure washer, but be careful around gas hoses, connections, electrical components or heating elements.

Using a general medium-pressure spray, swill down the detergent and wash away any excess, working from the top down.

Let your barbecue dry thoroughly, then coat with a non-stick oil to help reduce future build up.

Finally, cover and protect either indoors or under a plastic cover for next year!

Tip 3:  Cleaning Outdoor windows

There is a good chance your exterior windows have gathered a fair bit of dust and grime over the summer months.

Using a pressure washer with high pressure to lift dirt and wash it away can help keep your windows sparkling and your views clear.

Pressure washing exterior windows will help keep dark winter days a little brighter in your home.

Tip 4: Cleaning the Car

We can all agree, the weather becomes far less predictable over the autumn months, so washing your car on a weekend becomes a little harder to plan!

So make the most of the bit of summer we have left, and give your car a deep clean before the weather begins to turn.

Tip 5: Cleaning Patio and Decking

Using a pressure washer, ensure your patio and decking is free of mould and debris.

Not only is it satisfying to watch, a thorough clean also will serve to prepare your patio and decking for the winter.

By using the Vax Patio & Deck Pressure Washer Detergent with your pressure washer, you have double the cleaning efficiency, as this aids to remove dirt and moss from exterior surfaces as well as protects from further build up.

Tip 6: Cleaning your Garden Tools

When bad weather hits, its unlikely gardening is going to be your number one priority anymore, so make sure you look after your gardening tools and keep them safe in storage while you’re not using them anymore.

First, keep them clean by pressure washing them down, removing any dirt and debris.

Next apply a light layer of oil to your tools, to prevent them from rusting over the autumn and winter months.

And that’s it! You’re Autumn ready!
